Elon Musk suggested he might die “under mysterious circumstances” in a tweet Sunday, reportedly in reference to a message from the chief of Russia’s space agency.
“If I die under mysterious circumstances, it’s been nice knowin ya,” he said in the tweet.
The tweet came shortly after Musk shared a message from Dmitry Rogozin, who accused him of being “involved in supplying the fascist forces in Ukraine with military communication equipment”.
“And for this, Elon, you will be held accountable like an adult – no matter how much you’ll play the fool,” Rogozin added.
After Russia invaded Ukraine in February, Musk provided SpaceX Starlink terminals to Ukraine when top government officials were worried that the country would lose internet access.
According to Fox News, Rogozin condemned the Starlink satellite company for enabling the “Nazi Azov Battalion” to access the internet.
“The word ‘Nazi’ doesn’t mean what he seems to think it does,” Musk tweeted.
Musk’s tweets prompted his mother, Maye Musk, to respond, “That’s not funny”. “Sorry! I will do my best to stay alive,” he replied.
Some Twitter users suggested that Musk might be afraid of Bill and Hillary Clinton, with the conspiracy theory that the Clintons were involved in Jeffrey Epstein’s suicide.
“Wait… what do you know about Hillary Clinton?” tweeted comedian Tim Young.
Others found comparisons between Musk’s tweet and those of anti-virus software entrepreneur John McAfee, who died in a Spanish jail in 2021.
