The former President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko has taken to the front lines with an AK-47 as Russian forces close on the capital city of Kyiv.
During an interview with CNN Friday morning, the former world leader revealed that he is willing to defend Kyiv until the end. He carries his rifle while he and others patrol the city. He also revealed that the patrol he is a part of us two machine guns.
He explained to CNN that his battalion does not have any tanks, just a few rifles, and two machine guns to repel waves of Russian troops. Many could never imagine a former United States president like Barrack Obama or George W. Bush taking to the streets to defend their country.
A recent poll published by the Daily Caller did however reveal that 91.8% of Americans would take up arms and carry out ‘Red Dawn’ style attacks if America was invaded by a foreign power.
The beautiful thing about America is that it’s massive, and there are enough civilian-owned firearms to equip the entire country. Ukraine however, does not have the same luxury.
Their citizens apparently did not have the absolute right to keep and bear arms. Their citizens were only recently granted this right after the invasion began. Not that the Ukrainian police force is going to arrest anyone for possession during an invasion anyway.
Civilians are now encouraged to fight back and defend their homeland from the Russian threat.
