On Saturday morning, over 150 illegal immigrants were able to cross into the U.S. by walking around an incomplete border wall.
Bill Melugin of Fox News reported on the incident as border patrol worked to gather the migrants that crossed in La Joya, Texas. They had crossed the border after traveling across the Rio Grande.
Melugin said most of the migrants were from South America, but noted that some were Romanian and Albanian. He also said more are expected to arrive soon.
He shared drone images on Twitter that reveal an incomplete section of the border wall that was being constructed under the Trump administration. Melugin noted that “construction halted as soon as Biden took office”.
“As you can see from our drone, once they cross the Rio Grande, they walk paths around the incomplete border wall,” Melugin explained.
After Biden took office at the beginning of the year, the border wall construction was immediately halted, leaving a serious gap.
Over $100 million of wall materials went to waste in Texas and it was revealed that the Biden administration was still paying for uncomplete construction.
Rodney Scott, Biden’s former border security chief, said the U.S. was paying $5 million per day for contracts that were on hold.
Melugin explained that there is enough steel to construct over 100 miles of wall, but only 14 miles had been built before Biden’s presidency started.
