Zynga Founder and Lifelong Democrat Mark Pincus Breaks Party Lines: ‘I Am Voting for Trump’

Mark Pincus

Video game billionaire and lifelong Democrat Mark Pincus announced Sunday that he is casting his vote for Donald Trump after what he described as “seeing too much” over the past year. Pincus, the founder of gaming giant Zynga, previously supported Democrats, even donating $1 million to President Biden’s campaign, but has decided to endorse the GOP nominee over Vice President Kamala Harris.

“I am voting for Trump,” Pincus wrote on social media. “I have been a lifelong Dem, supporting the past four presidential campaigns at $1 million each… This past year I have seen too much.” He cited America’s strained relationship with Israel, rising antisemitism, and restrictions on free speech as pivotal reasons for his shift. “Israel is America’s most loyal ally and the only democracy in the Middle East. It’s fighting Iran on seven fronts, yet it can no longer trust the U.S.,” he said, adding that he believes the U.S. and Israel will be “stronger under Trump.”

Pincus, reportedly worth over $1 billion, joins a growing list of Democratic megadonors expressing disillusionment with the current administration. He had previously voiced support for an open Democratic convention to allow new leadership to emerge. After Biden stepped down, however, many prominent Democrats rallied around Harris as the nominee.

Though he acknowledged that his vote in heavily Democratic California may not sway the outcome, Pincus felt compelled to make his choice clear: “I know America will continue to be great under the Dems or Trump. And yet, I think America and Israel will be stronger under Trump.”
