Rising WNBA star Angel Reese didn’t hold back her feelings after Donald Trump was declared the winner in the 2024 presidential election. The Chicago Sky forward took to social media, expressing her dismay over the results and frustration with American voters.
“I’m so disappointed in America… Some of you just couldn’t selfishly put your pride aside, huh??!?!?” Reese wrote on X, saying she felt “speechless” and “heartbroken” for women across the country. “As a woman, I’m heartbroken for us all,” she added, highlighting her concern about the impact of the election on women’s rights.

Despite her disappointment, Reese shared that she planned to stay hopeful, stating she would “pray and think positive” as the nation moves forward.
Reese’s sentiments were echoed by her WNBA colleague Natasha Cloud of the Phoenix Mercury, who also voiced disappointment over Vice President Kamala Harris’s loss. “We are truly so broken as a country for this to be our reality,” Cloud wrote on X. She expressed concerns about how the results reflected deeply rooted societal issues, including racism and misogyny.
“The privilege of celebrating right now is exactly what’s wrong with us as people,” Cloud continued. “I am truly worried about my fundamental human rights. Racism, misogyny, and hatred of women are so deeply rooted into everything that is America. Until we fix the roots… it will never grow.”
Both Reese and Cloud’s messages reflected a growing frustration among some athletes and public figures, sparking a larger conversation on social media around the future of America and the protection of individual rights.
