When asked about the physical and mental well-being of President Joe Biden during an interview Monday, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre brushed off concerns.

In an interview with CNN’s Don Lemon, Jean-Pierre seemed surprised while being asked about Biden’s capabilities and the future.

“Does the president have the stamina, physically and mentally, do you think to continue on even after 2024?” Lemon asked.

“Don, you’re asking me this question,” Jean-Pierre exclaimed. “Oh my gosh. He’s the president of the United States”.

“I can’t even keep up with him,” she added. “We just got back from New Mexico, we just got back from California … just look at the work that he does, and look what he’s, how he’s delivering for the American public”.

“That is not a question that we should be even asking,” she said.

Jean-Pierre also mentioned a New York Times report that questioned the president’s mental capabilities and called the article “hearsay” and “not what we care about”.

“We care about how we are going to deliver for the American people. How we’re going to make their lives better. That’s what the president talks about. That is his focus and that’s what we’ll continue to focus on,” she said.

In recent weeks, several Democrats have questioned whether Biden is fit to run for president again in 2024.

Biden’s gaffes over the past few months, many of which are walked back by his staff, have worried Americans.

According to a Quinnipiac University poll released last week, Biden’s approval rating has fallen to 33%.
