Newly released footage captures the shocking moment a Delta Air Lines flight crashed upon landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport, flipping upside down after a landing gear failure.
The Bombardier CRJ-900 regional jet, operating as a Delta Endeavor Air flight from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, suffered a catastrophic malfunction as it touched down on Monday. The right rear landing gear appeared to collapse, sending the plane’s right wing scraping across the tarmac before breaking off, causing the aircraft to roll onto its roof.

Passengers Scramble for Safety
Out of the 80 people onboard—76 passengers and four crew members—21 were taken to local hospitals following the accident. Nineteen of those passengers have since been released.
Passenger Pete Koukov, speaking to The New York Times, said everything seemed normal until the moment “the wheels hit the ground.”
“The next thing I know, we’re sideways,” Koukov recalled. “I unbuckled pretty fast and kind of lowered myself to the floor, which was now the ceiling. People were panicking.”
Delta CEO Responds to the Incident
Delta CEO Ed Bastian reassured passengers and their families that the airline is committed to supporting those affected.
“Our most pressing priority remains taking care of all customers and Endeavor crew members involved,” Bastian said. “We’ll do everything we can to support them and their families in the days ahead.”
He also thanked first responders and medical teams for their swift action in assisting passengers.
Weather Conditions and Investigation Underway
At the time of the crash, the airport was experiencing strong wind gusts of up to 40 miles per hour and drifting snow, though officials have not yet determined if weather played a role in the accident.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has taken over the investigation, with support from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Authorities have yet to release further details about the cause of the crash.
This latest footage provides a harrowing look at the moment of impact, raising new questions about the aircraft’s mechanical integrity and the circumstances leading up to the accident.
