Ella Emhoff, stepdaughter to Vice President Kamala Harris, recently took to social media to support a fundraiser for child relief efforts in the region of Gaza.
The campaign, which Emhoff, 24, showcased on her personal Instagram to her sizable audience of 315,000 followers, has caused a degree of unease among certain conservative members of the government, including Representative Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ).
The fundraiser has quickly gained traction, raising close to an impressive $8 million. It is facilitated by the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund, a Kent, Ohio-based nonprofit organization that amassed over $21 million in contributions during the previous year, as reported by ProPublica. However, Emhoff’s personal contribution to this specific cause remains undisclosed.
Rep. Van Drew considered this particular action troubling, expressing his significant apprehension in an interview with The Post.
He found the lack of acknowledgment of the innocent Israeli victims of the crisis, including numerous children, particularly troubling. Furthermore, the New York Post noted that there was no discussion in the fundraiser about the over 1,400 innocent Israelis who have fallen victims to attacks by Hamas terrorists.
Van Drew, an esteemed member of the House Homeland Security Committee, also voiced his conviction that hijacking of the humanitarian funds by notorious terrorist group Hamas was almost inevitable. His concerns are founded on the history and practices of the group, which oversees the Gaza Strip.
Amid this controversy, it’s crucial to note that Ella Emhoff is not Jewish, unlike her father, First Gentleman Doug Emhoff. An acknowledgment made clear by a spokesperson for the family in 2021 to The Forward, a widely recognized publication, stating that while Ella harbors no ill feelings towards Judaism, she prefers not to speak on its behalf.

Kelly also took aim at Harris and White House press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, lamenting over their rhetoric that often felt hollow and devoid of substance. Kelly alluded to the duo’s propensity to artfully circumnavigate pressing issues while using copious words to say relatively little.
Kelly did not shy away from expressing her dismay about Harris’s declining image, pointedly referring to her as a ‘moron’ due to her perceived intellectual inadequacy. This remark comes despite Harris’ impressive resume, including a stint as the attorney general in the state of California. However, from Kelly’s vantage point, Harris has been unable to meet the expectations such a role sets.
The radio presenter further criticized the current President, Joe Biden, for his speaking skills. She echoed popular concerns about his cognitive abilities, particularly with respect to his potential candidacy in the 2024 presidential elections.
In addition to these critiques, Harris’s office endures continuous staffing issues and numerous turnovers. The issue seems to stem from dissatisfaction among employees, with many former staffers noting a prevalent lack of enthusiasm in working under her leadership.
