U.S. Forces TARGETED in Iraq

A spokesman for the U.S.-led coalition in Iraq, Colonel Wayne Marotto, said 10 rockets hit an airbase housing U.S. troops on Wednesday at 7:20 a.m.

According to the Pentagon, as reported by USA Today, no U.S. military personnel were killed or injured. The only casualty was a U.S. civilian contractor.

Their report indicated the contractor “suffered a cardiac episode while sheltering and sadly passed away shortly after.”

As of the publishing of this article, no one has claimed responsibility.

White House Press Secretary, Jen Psaki, told reporters, “What we won’t do is make a hasty or ill-informed decision that further escalates the decision or plays into the hands of our adversaries.”

This rocket attack comes days after President Biden authorized the use of airstrikes against Iran-backed militia, like Kataib Hezbollah and Katib Sayyid, on the Syrian-Iraqi border after they targeted U.S. personnel in Iraq.
