President-elect Donald Trump has pledged to release a comprehensive report on the recent surge of mystery drone sightings across the United States shortly after his inauguration on January 20.

During a meeting with Republican governors at Mar-a-Lago, Trump expressed frustration over the lack of transparency regarding these drone activities, stating, “I think it’s ridiculous that they’re not telling you about what’s going on with the drones.” He noted that drones had been spotted over his property in Bedminster, New Jersey, and highlighted similar reports from other states.

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin reported drone incursions over secure airspace in his state over the past two years, emphasizing the need for immediate action. Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry mentioned sightings over nuclear reactors, with no response from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) after being alerted. Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon also reported drones over critical infrastructure, expressing frustration over the inability to identify or address the issue.

In December, the FBI, FAA, and Department of Defense stated that they had investigated over 500 drone sightings based on public tips, identifying no threats among them.

Trump criticized the current administration’s handling of the situation, suggesting that the drones could be part of undisclosed research or, less optimistically, activities by adversaries. He assured that his administration would provide clarity on the matter, stating, “We’re going to find out on the 21st.”

The increasing frequency of unauthorized drone flights over sensitive areas has raised national security concerns, prompting calls for enhanced regulatory measures and improved detection capabilities. Trump’s commitment to addressing the issue indicates that it will be a priority for his administration.
