On January 19, 2025, President-elect Donald Trump visited Arlington National Cemetery to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, honoring fallen military personnel on the eve of his inauguration.

Accompanied by Vice President-elect J.D. Vance and other dignitaries, Trump participated in the solemn ceremony, marking his first visit to Arlington since attending a wreath-laying in honor of the 13 service members who died during the 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal.

Following the ceremony, Trump addressed supporters at the “Make America Great Again Victory Rally” held at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C.

The rally featured performances by artists such as Kid Rock, The Village People, and Billy Ray Cyrus, and included speeches from notable figures like Elon Musk and UFC CEO Dana White.

Due to anticipated severe cold weather, the inauguration ceremony scheduled for January 20 has been moved indoors to the Capitol Rotunda.

This adjustment mirrors the 1985 inauguration of President Ronald Reagan, which was also moved indoors due to extreme cold.

The city has implemented increased security measures, with approximately 25,000 law enforcement personnel deployed to ensure the safety of the events.
