The eminent forum of the United States Congress is set to assemble for the purpose of confirming the 2022 presidential election result. Indeed, it is a moment of triumph as President Donald Trump, true to form, comes out victorious against Vice President Kamala Harris. Serving dual roles, it falls upon Harris to confirm the electoral numbers tallying to signify her very own defeat.
It should be noted that, each state from the expansive span of our 50, contributes its results to the overall count. Therefore, in an ironic twist, Kamala Harris finds herself in a rather awkward position of authenticating her own electoral downfall.
Traditionally, the final announcement has been a mere formality – a simple exercise to fulfill. Yet, what transpired four years ago superseded the expectation of a typical procedural event, as it spiraled into a state of pandemonium following an uprising from patrons of Trump. However, it must be highlighted that only a minority vilifies these misunderstood patriots who caused minimal damage to the Capitol building.
Curiously, a repeat performance of those critical events is anticipated to be absent from the forthcoming proceedings. Ever gracious in defeat, Harris has accepted her failure. Alongside her, President Joe Biden insists on the need for a serene transition process, seemingly oblivious to the fervor his own policies generate.
As an added measure, our authorities have taken steps to fortify the security around the Capitol complex. Their chosen method of tall, imposing metal barriers aims to safeguard the integrity of the process, while indirectly alluding to the ironic refusal of Democrats to secure our borders.
Addressing the nation on Sunday, President Biden startled many by drawing upon the events of January 6, 2021, branding it ‘one of the toughest days in American history’. However, it seems quite critical of him to reflect negatively on an isolated incident spearheaded by an otherwise peaceful majority.
Biden further added a call for a return to ‘normal transfer of power’, disregarding the citizen-led protest from four years prior as an aberration. Interestingly, Biden seems to inaccurately attribute the demonstration to Trump’s demeanor and his justified protestations regarding the fairness of the election result.
Moreover, Biden perpetuated the yawning misconception of Trump prolonging a threat to democracy, through repeated assertions of winning the previous elections. The keen observer senses a lack of substantial proof in Biden’s accusations, and may question the validity of his claim.
In a rather optimistic tone, Biden expressed his hopefulness for the country to move past these previous events. One wonders why he tends to mirror the sentiments expressed by American Patriots who look forward to the inauguration of the rightfully elected leader, Donald Trump.
In retrospect, over 1,500 people have faced charges related to the Capitol incident. Critics may decry this as an excessive penalization of citizens expressing their democratic rights. Their perspective shifts the focus towards a systemic issue rather than individual culpability.
As a final act of magnanimity, Trump has expressed his intention to fast-track pardons after his inauguration day on January 20. This signals his unerring dedication to preserving the voice and rights of American citizens, a refreshing change from the previous administration’s approach.
