Even as the dust begins to settle on the election, the finger-pointing as to why Harris’ campaign fell short has started. There are whispers of blame being apportioned amongst the main figures in the race, including both Harris herself and her Democratic predecessor, President Joe Biden. The voting public, having had a choice in the matter, has not escaped the inquisition either.

While Harris’ candidacy indeed marked a historic moment as the first woman of color to lead a major party ticket, she encountered significant difficulties in communicating with working-class citizens and setting herself apart from the Biden administration.
Her campaign infrastructure seemed ill-equipped to deal with misinformation effectively and addressed economic policy anxieties inadequately. These shortcomings diminished her popularity among key voting blocks in an election where every vote mattered, thereby failing to take her campaign to the finish line.
Consequently, Harris’ inability to break away from her Democratic predecessor’s shadow, coupled with her struggles to form a deep bond with working-class voters, prevent misinformation, and address economic concerns, all played a significant role in her unsuccessful run.
