On the last Monday of May, we celebrate the heroic men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect the life and freedoms of those back home. This year former President Donald Trump said that Americans “Owe all that we are, to these unrivaled hero’s.”
In a statement from the Desk of Donald J Trump the 45th Commander-In-Chief said, “On this Memorial Day, we remember the fallen heroes who took their last breaths in defense of our Nation, our families, our citizens, and our sacred freedoms. The depth of their devotion, the steel of their resolve, and the purity of their patriotism has no equal in human history. On distant battlefields, in far-off oceans, and high in the skies above, they faced down our enemies and gave their lives so that America would prevail. They made the supreme sacrifice so that our people can live in safety and our Nation can thrive in peace. It is because of their gallantry that we can together, as one people, continue our pursuit of America’s glorious destiny.”
“We owe all that we are, and everything we ever hope to be, to these unrivaled heroes. Their memory and their legacy is immortal. Our loyalty to them and to their families is eternal and everlasting.”
Trump wrapped up his statement elegantly by saying “America’s warriors are the single greatest force for justice, peace, liberty, and security among all the nations ever to exist on earth. God bless our fallen Soldiers, Sailors, Coast Guardsmen, Airmen, and Marines. We honor them today, forever, and always.”
The United States has lost hundreds of thousands of brave soldiers over the last 100 years in the defense of freedom. Memorial Day was declared a federal holiday in 1971.
Despite what Kamala Harris believes, the celebration of this day is not just an escape from responsibility but rather a day for families to remember their fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters and friends who didn’t make it home.
Many of these hero’s that we celebrate, didn’t live long enough to own a cellphone, see man journey to the moon, see images from mars, surf the web, or even listen to music on the go. Their sacrifices allowed these neglected luxuries to be possible today.
