Donald Trump has not ruled out potentially running with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in the 2024 presidential election.
When asked about the possibility of a Trump-DeSantis bid in 2024 during a Newsmax interview, Trump said he has a good relationship with the governor.
“Well, I get along with him,” Trump said. “I was very responsible for his success, because I endorsed him and he went up like a rocket ship”.
Trump has repeatedly hinted at another presidential campaign after losing to President Biden in 2020.
DeSantis has also become a possible candidate for the GOP nomination as his popularity grows.
“Behind closed doors, Trump has complained about DeSantis’s rumored political ambitions. Still, both men have insisted they have a good relationship, and the two were seen talking at a wedding in April at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Fla,” reported the Hill.
After Trump endorsed his 2018 bid for governor, DeSantis’ support grew and he went on to win the position.
He has since become very popular with Republicans, receiving praise for his COVID-19 policies and focus on education, immigration, and jobs.
While discussing public polls, Trump said “’m leading in all the polls. Against Republicans and Democrats”.
“I’m leading in the Republican polls with numbers nobody has ever seen before and against Biden and anyone else they want to run, I’m leading against them,” he added.
DeSantis has continued to deny any interest in a presidential run in 2024.
