The Trump administration has officially launched a joint task force between the Department of Justice and the Department of Education aimed at safeguarding female athletes and students from the growing influence of gender ideology in schools and sports programs. The task force will specifically enforce new executive orders signed by President Donald Trump—“Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports” and “Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism.”

The move is a direct response to what the administration calls a “widespread and dangerous trend” of biological males competing in girls’ and women’s sports, undermining both fairness and safety. President Trump, who campaigned on restoring protections for female athletes, has now made it a cornerstone of his education and civil rights policy.

The task force will investigate violations of Title IX, the federal civil rights law designed to ensure equal opportunities for women and girls in education and athletics. It will also be empowered to take legal action against schools and institutions that defy federal guidelines aimed at preserving female-only spaces in sports, locker rooms, and scholarships.

This initiative follows recent clashes between the Trump administration and Democrat-run states, including Maine. Governor Janet Mills has faced criticism for allowing policies that permit biological males to compete in girls’ sports—a position that led the Trump administration to freeze select federal funds to Maine’s education system and launch a formal investigation.

In contrast, states like Georgia are aligning with the administration’s priorities. Governor Brian Kemp recently signed the “Riley Gaines Act” into law, prohibiting transgender athletes from competing in girls’ sports statewide. Named after former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines, who has become a vocal advocate for women’s sports, the legislation echoes the broader push across red states to restore fairness and common sense to school athletics.

Critics of the administration’s stance argue that the policy discriminates against transgender students, but supporters counter that Title IX was never meant to erase biological distinctions or force young women to compete against men in the name of “inclusion.”

Education Secretary Linda McMahon and Attorney General Steven Bradbury issued a joint statement affirming the administration’s unwavering support for female students, stating, “We will not stand by while schools sacrifice girls’ opportunities, safety, and privacy to appease radical gender activists. This task force is about restoring balance, fairness, and truth.”

President Trump’s position is clear: he is drawing a hard line in defense of women and girls across the country. As the new task force begins its work, it sends a powerful message—this administration will prioritize biological reality over political ideology and stand firm in its commitment to protecting American women.
