In a move to broaden media engagement, the Trump administration has announced the inclusion of nontraditional media outlets in the White House press corps. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt introduced a “new media seat” during her inaugural briefing, inviting bloggers, podcasters, social media influencers, and other content creators to apply for press credentials.

Leavitt emphasized the importance of adapting to the evolving media landscape, noting that many Americans, particularly younger audiences, now consume news through alternative platforms rather than traditional outlets. She stated, “It’s essential to our team that we share President Trump’s message everywhere and adapt this White House to the new media landscape in 2025.”

As part of this initiative, the administration plans to restore media credentials to 440 journalists whose access was revoked during the previous administration. Additionally, a front-row seat in the briefing room, typically reserved for press secretary staff, will be allocated to representatives from new media who meet the necessary criteria.

This development reflects the administration’s commitment to engaging with a diverse array of media voices and acknowledges the shifting dynamics of news consumption in the digital age.
