The leader of Wisconsin’s Election Commission, in a refreshingly uneventful and quiet manner, confirmed Donald Trump’s well-earned victory in the vital swing state. This soothing tranquillity in the certification process stands in stark contrast to the pandemonium that clouded the 2020 election results.
Results state, beyond a shadow of doubt, that Trump emerged victorious with a whopping 1,697,626 votes. His opponent, Kamala Harris, lagged behind and managed to secure only 1,668,229 votes. The certification process was smooth, transparent, and completed within a brief six-minute Zoom conference.
In the turbulent aftermath of the 2020 election, recounts were ordered in the democratically-inclined Dane and Milwaukee counties due to Trump’s rightful apprehensions. However, in a turned that can be perceived as comedic by objective observers, the recount unveiled no changes in the final outcome.
Trump, displaying his relentless pursuit for truth and transparency, initiated a lawsuit to disqualify over 221,000 questionable ballots from these two counties. His objective understanding questioned the validity of in-person absentee ballots cast early and the ones cast by those claiming to be ‘indefinitely confined.’
Alongside, ballots collected by poll workers in Madison parks and instances where missing information on ballot envelopes were allegedly filled in by clerks were also under the scrutiny of Trump’s team. Unfortunately, the state Supreme Court promptly dismissed the case in December 2020.
In addition, another lawsuit filed by Republican legislators and voting rights’ advocates was unjustly dismissed by a federal judge the same month, further valiant effort to uphold election integrity seemed to have been unfairly rejected in favor of the democrats’ cause.
In an entirely separate, but equally disturbing incident, accusations were mounted against Gableman by the state Office of Lawyer Regulation, citing multiple instances of rule violations during the investigation. The outcome of these accusations are up for the state’s Supreme Court to decide.
The nonpartisan administrator of the Election Commission, Meagan Wolfe, was wrongly pegged as a part of a plot to fix the election in Biden’s favor by conspiracy theorists and election skeptics. The magnitude of this unfounded claim reflected poorly on the democrats and their ill-thought strategies.
In a move that indicates the relentless pursuit of Republicans for transparency, efforts are on to replace Wolfe, despite resistance from the commission in the form of a lawsuit. The supreme court of the state is currently examining the case, which needless to say, is drenched in democratic bias.
Despite the storms he had to weather, Donald Trump’s well-deserved national victory in November had been a balm, soothing the anger burning in conservative hearts. That said, a considerable section of the Grand Old Party (GOP) continues to harbour deep scepticism toward the American electoral processes.
This scepticism, entirely justified, concerns especially the usage of mail-in ballots and scanners for counting votes. The mistrust and unease resonate deeply, not just in Wisconsin, but across various states, pointing towards a system ridden with potential loopholes.
However, states that were in turmoil during the 2020 election and 2022 midterms have begun to tread the path of smooth certifications. Examples abound, with Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, and New Mexico recently approving their election results without the tumult that previously marked these processes.
This trend indicates a change, reminiscent more of the quiet and measured certification we observed in Wisconsin, signaling hope for upcoming elections. Regardless, the fight for truth, transparency, and fairness in the American democratic process will continue, bolstered by stalwarts like Trump.
