Republicans are claiming that the treasury department is refusing to allow an investigation into Hunter Biden’s shady finances unless Democrats request it.
CBS reported, that Rep. James Comer, the ranking member of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, cited a June 13 phone call in which “Treasury officials informed Committee Republican staff that they will not provide SARs to Committee Republicans unless Democrats join the request.”
Comer alleges that the dealings tie to Biden’s family members “including the President” it would appear that the federal government is censoring the information in an attempt to protect Joe and his family’s reputation.
Why would Democrats need to be on board with an investigation? Especially considering they want to see Joe Biden remain in the White House? Republicans and Democrats function as checks and balances for each other, there’s no reason both need to be on board to investigate potentially illegal activity involving public officials that belong to one of the parties.
After reaching out to 13 banks seeking similar information Comer said, “The banks have also indicated that they cannot provide information without a subpoena, and we know Democrats aren’t interested in conducting oversight of this potential national security threat. When Republicans take back the House, we’ll use the gavel to get answers.”
When asked by CBS, the treasury department refused to answer whether or not they are requiring Democrats to get on board before the information is released. Comer believes that this new policy was adopted specifically to shield the President and his son.
