Disregarding an attempt by a Suffolk County deputy sheriff to perform a traffic stop, the woman allegedly accelerated her vehicle, leading to a nightmare-inducing collision involving four cars. This dreadful event culminated in the loss of her 9-year-old son’s life.

Upon the immediate aftermath of the accident, field sobriety tests were administered to the woman, although the outcomes of these tests have not been shared with the public yet. A resolution regarding the charges to be filed against her is yet to be made.

Witnesses reported that the same 2022 SUV was spotted earlier taking the wrong lane even on Sunrise Highway – which happens to be five miles away from the fateful accident scene. This shocking revelation was conveyed by officer Udice.

Describing the accident scene, Udice painted a grim picture of the severe, head-on collision resulting in significant damage to the involved vehicles. The intensity of the impact was so high that it catapulted the engine of the vehicle going in the wrong direction into the woods spanning along the crash site.

In a heartrending scene, the young boy was extracted from the rear of the SUV by a deputy sheriff and a state trooper from New York. Both responders labored meticulously, providing immediate medical attention including performing CPR on the young child at the scene.

Despite the emergency first-aid efforts of these responders, the boy was pronounced dead after being transported to a nearby hospital. The incident transpired near Exit 42, in Bay Shore, and was reported around the wee hours of 2:30 a.m.

Suffolk County Deputy Undersheriff John Beck, expressing his sorrow over this deeply distressing incident, stated, ‘This was a traumatic event for all those involved.’ He continued, acknowledging the emotional toll the scene was likely to have taken on the deputy sheriff.

Additional victims of this tragic accident include the mother, the driver of the errant vehicle, and the occupants of two of the other cars involved in the collision, all of whom have been confirmed by authorities to have sustained injuries that thankfully, are not life-threatening.

Following the incident, the mother was admitted to Good Samaritan Hospital for medical attention. Information on her current medical condition is yet to be disseminated.

Amid this atmosphere of sorrow and confusion, state police have exercised restraint in making public the identities of the bereaved woman and her late son, pending the process of notifying the relatives.
