Adan Manzano, a media correspondent for Telemundo Kansas City and Tico Sports, had come to town to report on the Super Bowl when tragedy struck. A woman from Slidell has been taken into custody by authorities as part of an ongoing inquiry into Manzano’s death. Manzano was discovered in a lifeless state in his hotel room in Kenner.
The reason for Manzano’s city visit was his duty to report the Super Bowl, working under Telemundo Kansas City and Tico Sports banners. Telemundo issued an official statement upon learning about his demise, commending him for his professionalism and recognizing his burgeoning talent.
Earlier this week, Kenner Police reported that Danette Colbert, a Slidell resident, had been arrested with evidence linking her to Manzano’s case. This connection came to light when it was found that she had used Manzano’s credit card at numerous retailers around New Orleans.
Video footage obtained from the hotel surveillance system showed Colbert with Manzano in the early hours of February 5th. Disturbingly, the same camera later captured her leaving the hotel room, now all by herself.
At present, Colbert faces charges relating to fraud and theft. However, authorities have made it clear that the investigation surrounding Manzano’s death is still ongoing.
Giving insight into Colbert’s past, Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley revealed that she has a record peppered with a variety of financial crimes. These include accusations of drugging men, pilfering money, and illegal usage of credit cards.
Her past run-ins with law enforcement include apprehensions for similar financial crimes. She was arrested in 2020 in Nevada, and another time in Jefferson Parish two years prior, both instances concerning comparable offenses.
Despite these findings, the cause of Manzano’s untimely demise has not yet been officially disclosed by authorities. It’s yet uncertain whether additional charges will be brought against Colbert.
The medical examiner’s office is conducting tests to establish the cause of Manzano’s death. They offered a small solace, stating that there were no clear indications of physical trauma.
Kenner Police is calling on the public for help in their investigation. They implore anyone who can identify Danette Colbert and provide any information concerning her links to these crimes to come forward. They encourage such individuals to contact the Criminal Investigations Division or Crime Stoppers.
