A prominent Democratic Party fundraiser and member of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) finance committee, Lindy Li, announced her departure from the party, labeling it a “cult” after facing backlash for criticizing the Kamala Harris campaign’s spending practices.

Harsh Words for the Party

Li, who has raised tens of millions of dollars for Democratic causes, appeared on Fox & Friends Weekend and Piers Morgan Uncensored, where she unleashed scathing criticisms of the party’s leadership and culture. “I think, unfortunately, the Democratic Party has the stench of loser written all over the party,” she remarked, describing a harrowing week in which she lost 40,000 social media followers and was subjected to online harassment for her comments.

“When I dare to utter any criticisms of the goddess Kamala Harris, I get ostracized,” Li said. She revealed that donors and supporters were outraged by lavish campaign expenses, such as millions spent on five-star hotels for staffers and $500,000 allegedly paid to Al Sharpton prior to an interview with Harris.

Accusations of Hypocrisy

Li accused the party of suppressing dissent and engaging in what she called performative inclusivity. “All these so-called Democrats, the party of inclusion, the party of diversity? Masks off,” she said, adding that critics within the party were labeled with derogatory terms. “They’re accelerating my rightward shift.”

The vitriol escalated, with Li being labeled a “communist spy” by online detractors, despite her family history of fleeing the Chinese regime. She further criticized the party’s stance on issues like gender and athletics, declaring, “I want to be a part of the team that says men are men and women are women, and men shouldn’t play in women’s sports.”

Campaign Spending Accountability

Li also raised serious concerns about the Harris campaign’s financial accountability, alleging that billions of dollars were mismanaged. “It wasn’t just a billion dollars; it was two billion,” she told NewsNation. “Where did that two billion dollars go? Millions went to celebrities, private jets, and ice cream. How can Americans believe the Democratic Party can handle taxpayer funds if we can’t even handle a campaign?”

“Shrinking the Tent”

Li concluded by expressing frustration over the Democratic Party’s inability to tolerate dissenting views, claiming the party was alienating key donors and supporters. “They’re shrinking their tent,” she said. “They’re pushing me to bring my tens of millions of dollars that I’ve raised to a different team that treats me with common decency.”

Her remarks come as Democrats face internal divisions and scrutiny over their campaign strategies, raising questions about the party’s ability to unify and retain key supporters heading into future elections.
