Tom Homan: Biden First President To Intentionally Leave Border Unsecured

Tom Homan, former acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and now serving as President Trump’s Border Czar, is calling out President Joe Biden for what he describes as a deliberate and historic betrayal of America’s border security.

Speaking on Monday, Homan bluntly stated that Biden is “the first president in the history of this nation who has intentionally left the border unsecured.” He argued that the administration’s open-border policies have created a national security crisis, a humanitarian disaster, and a breakdown of law and order on an unprecedented scale.

Since Biden took office, nearly 9 million illegal immigrants have crossed the southern border, overwhelming Border Patrol agents and law enforcement across multiple states. Homan stressed that these staggering numbers are not the result of incompetence, but a direct consequence of policy decisions made at the highest levels of the Biden White House.

Homan further revealed that under Biden, deportations of criminal aliens have plummeted by roughly 70% compared to the Trump administration. Dangerous individuals, including gang members and convicted felons, are now more likely to be released into American communities than removed from the country—putting countless American families at risk.

He also warned about the devastating human cost of Biden’s policies, noting that more than 300,000 unaccompanied minors have flooded across the border. Many of these children, Homan explained, have fallen prey to human traffickers, drug cartels, and violent predators because of the administration’s refusal to enforce immigration law.

Beyond the humanitarian toll, Homan emphasized the national security implications, pointing out that cartels have exploited the chaos to expand drug smuggling operations, contributing directly to the deadly fentanyl epidemic ravaging American towns and cities.

While the Biden administration continues to downplay the crisis, frontline immigration officials, law enforcement officers, and border communities are sounding the alarm. Homan warned that unless serious action is taken—such as reinstating Trump-era policies like Remain in Mexico, restoring rapid deportations, and securing the border with physical barriers and full enforcement—the situation will only deteriorate.

“The border is wide open by design,” Homan said. “This isn’t mismanagement. This is exactly what they wanted—and the American people are paying the price.”

With President Trump promising to finish the wall, restore immigration enforcement, and dismantle the Biden border disaster on day one of a second term, the contrast between the two visions for America’s sovereignty could not be clearer.
