TikTokers Threaten Violence Over Roe V. Wade News

WASHINGTON, DC - MAY 02: Demonstrators gather outside of the U.S. Supreme Court on May 02, 2022 in Washington, DC. In an initial draft majority opinion obtained by Politico, Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito allegedly wrote that the cases Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood of Southeastern v. Casey should be overruled, which would end federal protection of abortion rights across the country. After the news of the leaked Supreme Court draft document, many TikTok users have expressed their opinions on the overturning of Roe v. Wade, including calls for violence.

In the draft opinion, which was published Monday night by Politico, Justice Samuel Alito wrote that the decision must be overruled to “return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives”.

Chief Justice John Roberts confirmed the draft’s authenticity Tuesday, but noted that the decision was not final and the leak would be investigated.

The Twitter account “Libs of TikTok” has shared a series of TikTok videos showing “pro-abortionists” freaking out on the platform over the news.

“If they actually do this, yeah, that would be the time where rioting would be okay,” one user said. “I got the pitchforks, you get the gas and the torches, let’s f**king do that sh**”.

“There’s only one solution to this, to all of this, because it’s all interconnected. Starts with V, ends with E, and it’s not vote,” another user said.

One woman posted a video saying “Hey TikTok. Do you ever wake up in the morning and think you just want to burn it all to the ground? And what I mean by burning it all to the ground is those old white men, and women who support them, who wanna tell me what to do with my body”.

Other users have posted videos of them pretending to stab Supreme Court members, warning about “mayhem,” and calling for protests bigger than those after the death of George Floyd.

In another video posted by Libs of TikTok, multiple users can be seen crying or simply groaning and swearing over the news.

Many people have compared it to “The Handmaid’s Tale,” a popular dystopian novel and show about Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was the United States.

One user advised “everyone out there with a uterus” to go on Amazon and “buy Plan B generic” to “stock up for any of your friends, family, and any person with a uterus that may need it”.

“If Roe v. Wade gets overturned, I am f**king getting a vasectomy. Yeah that’s right! I’ll f**king protest and get a vasectomy,” said another.
