July of 2009 marked a key point in the lives of French officers Denis Allex along with another unnamed officer. Both were abducted from the Sahafi Hotel in Mogadishu by Mahad Ibrahim Hamarow, who later aligned himself with Al Shabaab. The latter officer was able to break free, while Hamarow’s journey continued elsewhere.
Following the incident, Hamarow sought refuge in Kenya within the same year, a development made known through Mr. Aydarus, the spokesperson for Hizbul Islam. His movements were tracked, uncovering a plan for continued migration.
In 2010, Mahad Hamarow embarked upon another phase of his life, heading to South Africa to establish a new residence. This was revealed later during our investigative processes. Witnesses Mohamed Isse alongside his brother Somaney, Johannesburg residents, provided critical information.
However, 2011 brought an unexpected twist when Hamarow’s brother, Hussein Hamarow, a prominent figure among Somali pirates, got in touch. His call followed the pirates’ seizing a tremendous fortune from an oil ship owned by Saudi Arabia. Abdulkadir Mohamed Abdi Afweyne, son of the pirate leader, confirmed that the take was no less than 10 million dollars.
Counting his newfound wealth, Hamarow decided to return to his roots in 2011. He retraced his steps back to Somalia, specifically Harardhere, where he joined forces with the pirates, his brother’s ambitious and affluent organization.
His return to Somalia marked another significant turn in 2012. Hamarow became involved in the abduction of Michael Scott Moore, a journalist holding dual American and German citizenship. This year would add more drastic deeds to his record.
Beyond the kidnapping of Moore, Hamarow was implicated in multiple homicides during 2012. Among the departed was Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, also known by his aliases Mohamed Weershe Falane or Mohamed Duceysane, a member of the Yabar dhowrakace, Ayr Habargidir Clan.
Furthermore, former Minister of Internal Affairs of Galmudug, Mr. Abdi Madobe, now jail-bounded in the United States, and Khadijjo Ali Said Igal, a woman tragically killed by her husband, recounted to Sunatimes.com how Mohamed Falane served as a bodyguard for Sahra Miig, a Khatwale from the Saleban clan, tied matrimonially to Ahmed Sayruq.
In the tumultuous year of 2012, after perpetrating the murder of Mohamed Falane in Haradhere and kidnapping Michael Scott Moore, Mahad Hamarow procured a Somali passport, jetting off once again to Johannesburg. However, the sojourn was short-lived, culminating in his deportation back to Somalia from Johannesburg Airport.
A year later, in 2013, Hamarow managed to find his way back into South Africa, this time taking on the guise of an Ethiopian migrant. Adopting a fictitious identity, he succeeded in receiving an official refugee document from South Africa, declaring him to be an Ethiopian citizen.
With his newly minted identity, Baartman Sylvester Eugene, born on the 24th of September, 1987, and holding a South African Travel document with passport No: A09494059, as stated on his passport, Hamarow secured his entrance into the United States. His passport, issued on 3rd November 2021, is valid through to 2nd November 2031.
Upon arriving in the United States in November 2021, Mahad Ibrahim Hamarow picked up another alias, Mahad Ibrahim Mahamud, claiming his birthdate to be 27th March 1989. After having his passport spread across social media, Mahamud admitted ownership while also claiming possession of a passport under the name Baartman Eugen.
As per sources, the notorious criminal, infamous for his activities in Somalia, Mr. Mahad Mahamud, is speculated to be attempting escape to Canada. His reputation spans his numerous misdeeds, including murder and kidnapping.
Members of the community where he was born, specifically in Salebaan Habargidir, spoke to Waagacusub Media about Hamamud. He is also known as Garyaqaan on the social media channels, causing a whirl of discussions among the network’s audience.
But his journey, marked by bloodshed and deceit, was not one he undertook alone. Hassan Hared Ali Fonge, proprietor of Hared Trucking LLC, is alleged to have provided Mahamud with crucial support and funding.
Serious allegations also extend to Hassan’s brother, with both individuals accused of attempting to restructure the dangerous and destabilizing organization of Somali pirates. The saga of Mahad Hamarow continues to unravel, leaving countless questions in its wake.
