Texas Law Banning Abortions After 6 Weeks Takes Effect

Legislation banning abortion 6 weeks of gestation is now in effect.

At 6 weeks, a human fetus has a beating heart, circulatory system, there is electrical activity in its brain, and it is identifiably human if photographed.

NPR reported, In a move that surprised some high court watchers, the U.S. Supreme Court didn’t act on an emergency request to stop the law from taking effect by midnight Tuesday. It allowed the policy to go ahead despite court challenges.

On Wednesday, President Biden called the law “extreme” and said it “blatantly violates” the constitutional right to abortion, adding that his administration will protect and defend that right.

It seems that without such a low, it also relieves the most vulnerable humans among us of their constitutional rights.

Many argue that by this point, most women are unaware that they are even pregnant. It’s unclear why this should have any effect on whether a mother is legally able to terminate the life of her offspring.

The bill was passed in May, and it bans any and all abortions after 6 weeks of pregnancy. Texas, is now home to the strictest abortion laws in America.

The law also makes way for private individuals to sue providers for conducting or aiding in an illegal abortion. This allegedly includes anyone who might give a woman a ride to the clinic.

The law entities that plaintiff to a minimum of $10,000 in damages. Though no value can be placed on human life.
