TEXAS Republicans WIN Latino Democrat Counties

Last weekend’s mayoral elections across the state of Texas may have come as a surprise to those both worried and hopeful that the state’s demographic trajectory favored democrats.

What could very well be a fore-shock for the 2022 midterms, Republican candidates did not simply defend seats, they gained ground in areas once projected to permeate losses for the GOP. Fort Worth and Arlington were among the mayoral races won, but neither compared to the monumental victory enjoyed by Javier Villalobos in McAllen, Texas. Javier became the first Republican mayor of the city in 24 years. The demographic make-up of McAllen, Texas sits approximately at 85% – a figure that is causing a great deal of turbulence within the Democratic National Committee in Texas.

Filemon Vela, the democratic regional representative, acknowledged the blindsiding, stating that, “For the first time in generations, or maybe ever, we lost…South Texas counties with significant Hispanic populations.”

She went on to attribute the loss in support from black and Latino voting blocks to “misinformation”.

The opposition latched on to G.O.P. talking points, suggesting our candidates would ‘burn down your house and take away the police.”

The connection between democrats and lawlessness no doubt being drawn from the current state of many DNC-controlled urban metros, far-left insurgencies, and a lack of push-back against extremism within the party’s leadership.

It is unsurprising, then, that many Latino voters in Texas would not be keen on the idea of less law enforcement when so many have either fled from or grew up hearing stories of ganglands and ineffectual politicians. If these election wins are, in fact, indicative of what’s to come in the next few years, it is cause for concern in every presumably “safe” blue area. Not only that, but it dashes projections that Texas will be blue any time soon
