Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) has sharply criticized President Joe Biden’s decision to pardon his son, Hunter Biden, calling it a self-serving act designed to shield the President from deeper scrutiny. Speaking on his podcast, “Verdict,” Cruz argued that the pardon was less about compassion for Hunter’s personal struggles and more about preventing investigations into the President’s alleged involvement in corrupt activities.
Cruz dismissed the notion of Hunter as merely a troubled individual, claiming instead that his business dealings were centered on selling access to his father, then-Vice President Biden. “Hunter Biden’s business was selling access to daddy,” Cruz stated. “The real crook here is Joe Biden.” He accused the Biden family of using political connections to accumulate significant wealth, suggesting that the President is ultimately the one who benefited most from these arrangements.
The Senator also noted his role in exposing what he described as a “corrupt” plea deal that would have let Hunter off with no jail time. Cruz credited public and congressional scrutiny with derailing the agreement, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability in the justice system.
The pardon has sparked widespread controversy, with critics arguing that it sets a dangerous precedent and undermines trust in the rule of law. For many, the move raises serious questions about political integrity and the potential misuse of presidential power to protect family interests.
In JANUARY, I predicted that Joe Biden would pardon Hunter Biden.
Sadly, I was correct. In Joe Biden’s America, no one is above the law unless your last name happens to be Biden.@benfergusonshow and I react to Hunter’s pardon on Verdict.https://t.co/Gr485NJ5cV pic.twitter.com/Wik36ikSnS
