Details of the Incident:

  • Driver’s Condition: The 58-year-old taxi driver reportedly suffered a medical episode, leading to the loss of vehicle control. He was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue for evaluation.
  • Injuries Sustained:
    • A 9-year-old boy and a 41-year-old woman were taken to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
    • A 49-year-old woman was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue.
    • Three additional women, aged 19, 37, and 49, declined medical attention.
    • All injuries are reported as non-life-threatening.

Eyewitness Account:

A tourist from Oregon recounted that his wife was struck by the taxi. He assisted the injured boy, whose leg was trapped under the vehicle, and noted that the boy’s mother was also among those hit.

Current Status:

The New York Police Department is investigating the incident, which appears to be accidental due to the driver’s medical condition. No charges have been filed at this time.
