Everyone knew Trump would run again after all those surprise ballots came in the day after election day, but it seems now that that the on-point speculation is becoming more and more concrete.

It has been reported by a former RNC official that Donald Trump, on three separate occasions in which he met with various dinner guests, that he, as of right now, plans to run for president in 2024.

“Now, whether he does or not is a different issue. We’ve still got three years to go. But he’s telling people that.” The unnamed senior official said.

This claim is further backed by the fact that earlier this month, Trump won 70% of the votes at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in a straw poll for those most favored to be the GOP nominee in 2024. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis received a distant 2nd at 21%, and 6 other names including Rand Paul, Nikki Haley, Ted Cruz, Tucker Carlson, Kristi Noem, and Mike Pompeo managed to garner a 1% 3rd placing. Mike Pence, notably, received no measurable support.

Not unpredictably, this announcement – along with the same level of an assumed 2024 bid as Trump’s supporters – has to lead to many preemptive jabs and continued air-chair level diagnoses of Trump’s mental state.

As if the current president didn’t have hours worth of video of him struggling to speak.

In a related act of worrying legislation, the comically named “Mandating That Being an Elected Member Be an Essential Requirement for Speakership Act of 2021” (yes, that’s actually what it’s called) has been proposed by Pennsylvania House Representative Brendan Boyle in an apparent act of panic that Trump could, in theory, become House Speaker and move to impeach Biden and Harris, serve out the remainder of Biden’s term, and still have 4 years left on his 10-year limit to make a proper run in 2024.

Is all of this likely? No. But neither was Trump winning in 2016.
