Late Sunday afternoon, a Christmas parade in Waukesha Wisconsin turned bloody.
During the parade, an SUV appeared intentionally plow through the crowd killing multiple people and injuring dozens.
According to the independent, 5 were killed. The Milwaukee journal noted that at least 12 of the injured persons were children while at least 11 were adults.
The Milwaukee journal reported, Waukesha Police Chief Dan Thompson said that around 4:39 p.m. a red SUV broke through the parade barriers and headed west on Main Street.
“The vehicle struck more than 20 individuals. Some of the individuals were children and there were some fatalities as a result of this incident,” said Police Chief Dan Thompson
At face value the incident appears to be an intentional attack on the people of Waukesha Wisconsin where were unsuspecting victims as they celebrated the holiday season.
Witnesses described the scene as a joyous celebration that turned became “pretty horrifying.”
“He was going from side to side, targeting people,” 28 year old witness Tyler Kotlarek said.
At this time, the motive for the Christmas parade attack remains unknown. Thompson noted that we do not yet know if this incident is linked to any sort of terrorism.
