The recent reveals, according to Deadline, introduce sensational actors Matt Smith and Liev Schreiber, who is often laughingly known to be a rampaging nemesis of autocorrect programs, to the ambitious cast already set to engage in this thrilling saga.

Austin Butler, known for his role as Benny in the Focus Features’ film ‘The Bikeriders’ directed by Jeff Nichols, is one of the prominent faces in the cast. The narrative of the new movie traces its roots back to the intriguing pages of Charlie Huston’s novel.

The film follows the tumultuous life of Hank Thompson, played by Butler, a spent ex-baseball professional. In an unexpected turn of events, Hank looks after his neighbor Russ’s cat, Bud, who had to hurriedly leave town.

However, his new pet-sitting responsibility takes an ominous turn when Hank is brutally assaulted by two men in tracksuits in the bar he works at. The brutal encounter leads Hank to realize that he is wanted for something, even though he is clueless as to what it may be, where it’s located, or how to convince his pursuers that he doesn’t possess it.

In less than a day, Hank finds himself in a mad rush, jumping across roofs, swinging his old baseball bat at the heads of his pursuers, furtively avoiding the NYPD, commuting with a deceased passenger by his side on the subway, and eventually counting a large sum of cash on a concrete floor.

For the screen adaptation of his novel, Huston is serving as a collaborator with Aronofsky. However, much remains unknown, with Butler’s role as Hank being the only one ascertained for now.

Aronofsky’s collaboration with Sony marks an integral part of the project. Sony acquired Huston’s book package and played a significant role in piquing the interest of the director.

In Aronofsky’s words, ‘I am thrilled to reunite with my long-standing associates at Sony Pictures and breathe life into Charlie’s high-octane narrative. I am eager to begin collaborating with Austin and my New York filmmaker colleagues.’

Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group’s president, Sanford Panitch, also expressed his excitement, ‘Darren is one of the most innovative visual narrators globally. Collaborating to adapt Charlie Huston’s impressive books with Austin in the lead role proved too enticing of an opportunity to miss.’

Matt Smith, known for his role as Prince Daemon Targaryen in the ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel series ‘House of the Dragon’, which recently concluded its second season and has been renewed for a third, has also joined the rising cinematic production. His latest big-screen appearance was in the horror movie ‘Starve Acre’, and he has the TV series ‘The Death of Bunny Munro’ lined up next.

Schreiber, who recently appeared in Wes Anderson’s ‘Asteroid City’, will soon be seen in the mystery series ‘The Perfect Couple’ on Netflix, premiering on September 5th.

While the release date of ‘Caught Stealing’ is still pending, the intensity with which the project is progressing suggests that relevant information should be on its way soon.
