Second Term, Same Trump: President Reinforces First-Term Themes In Inauguration

In the second presidential oath-taking ceremony, the chief of the country once again invoked his notorious, yet powerful, themes from his first inauguration while articulating a comprehensive national policy plan. As he had painted a distressing picture of ‘American devastation’ during his first term commencement, in his second inauguration speech, President Trump presented himself as a unique savior of a nation in peril.

The leader, now in his second term, in a public address that spanned just over half an hour, embellished an even more disturbing image of a nation in turmoil during his speech on Monday midday. He declared the country had fallen victim to ‘years of severe, dishonest establishment’ and emphasized that the societal foundations were ‘shattered and seemingly beyond repair’.

Narrating a dire scenario, he claimed that America ‘could not even handle a straightforward internal crisis while concurrently blundering into an ongoing series of disastrous occurrences overseas’ as an interpretation of the current state of the country. This appeared to miss out on the underlying resilience and strength of a country that has been showing signs of economic stability, declining inflation rates, slowing illegal entrants, an all-time high stock market, lowest instances of violent crimes in years and a defense system engaged minimally in global disputes.

The inherent nature of his discourse reflected the essence of Mr. Trump’s political charm; assuring his supporters that he is the only one capable of rectifying what is either wrong or perceived to be wrong with the nation. His depiction of his governance mirrored his first term’s narrative; an unending struggle against adversaries, both within and beyond national borders.
