Putin Threatens ‘Catastrophic’ Global Consequences Over No-Fly Zone Request

Vladimir Putin has once again threatened the western world. On Saturday the Russian President said that sanctions were akin to a declaration of war.  He warned that any attempt to enforce a no-fly zone in Ukraine would bear ‘catastrophic consequences for the world. 

Reuters reported He said any attempt by another power to impose a no-fly zone in Ukraine would be considered by Russia to be a step into the military conflict. Such a step he said would have catastrophic consequences for Europe and the world.

NATO has denied requests to establish a no-fly zone around Kyiv due to the fact that it would undoubtedly escalate the situation into a greater conflict.

Previously, before Russia launched an invasion into Ukraine President Joe Biden told Putin that if he invaded, sanctions would ensue. Putin responded by threatening “colossal consequences,” in response to mentioned sanctions. Such consequences thus far have not been seen. 

Russia has predicated its invasion on the idea that its purpose is the “denazification” of Ukraine. These notions have however been dismissed by western governments. Putin has also claimed that he has no intention to actually occupy the neighboring country. 

As of right now, Vladimir Putin says that the invasion is hound “to plan” and has denied that the threat is significant enough to cause any sort of martial law in Russia.
