Police officers are average ordinary people just like the rest of us. These officers may themselves be members of the LGBT community, and many are. Despite this fact, Police will be banned from marching in New York City Pride events.
“Under the new policy, announced Saturday by NYC Pride, corrections and law enforcement exhibitors will not be allowed to march in the parade or participate in other events for at least five years,” the New York Post reported.
The New York Police Department’s “Gay Officers Acton League”, or GOAL is a group of professionals in the criminal justice field, who also happen to be gay.
Their website reads: “Serving LGBTQ Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice Professionals from all agencies, and the LGBTQ community with pride since 1982”
Previously, officers were invited to March at Pride events. With open arms they were allowed to take to the streets with their support.
“Gay Officers Action League (“GOAL”) is disheartened by the decision to ban our group from participating in New York City Pride. Heritage of Pride (NYC Pride) has long been a valued partner of our organization and its abrupt about-face in order to placate some of the activists in our community is shameful.” Is written in a passage on GOAL’s website.
Wokeness has driven New York’s Pride community to discriminate against their very own on an occupational basis. Now, your profession, or lack of a certain profession determines your ability to support the LGBT community.
“GOAL was embraced by the community because it was viewed as agents of change. This was progress, it wasn’t contention,” Said their President Brian Downey.
Organizers have claimed that an NYPD presence would make activists feel unsafe. Some say the officers could even cause a dangerous environment.
“The sense of safety that law enforcement is meant to provide can instead be threatening, and at times dangerous, to those in our community who are most often targeted with excessive force and/or without reason,” organizers said in their press release.
If you are an NYPD police officer, you cannot be proud of your sexuality, or at least not publicly with other activists. This is what the left would have you believe.
