Prime Minister Keir Starmer has expressed disregard towards SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s numerous criticisms directed at him on a social media platform owned by Musk, known here as ‘X platform’. The Prime Minister stated that due to time limitations, he lacks the time necessary to read the billionaire’s prolonged stream of objections. He brushed away concerns about Musk’s apparent animosity, adding that he has the ability to address President-elect Donald Trump directly, thus rendering Musk’s reactions irrelevant.
The unpredictable business magnate, who maintains a commanding presence in the tech industry, is scheduled to become part of the future U.S. government on the forthcoming Monday. Throughout the past couple of weeks, Musk has used his social media platform, ‘X’, to repeatedly voice his criticism of the Prime Minister. His posts have bordered on vehement, with multiple calls for Starmer’s dismissal and even suggested imprisonment.
In response to Musk’s online attacks, Starmer candidly stated that he simply doesn’t have the opportunity to dissect every single tweet directed at him. Addressing the matter while in Ukraine, he stated that if he spent time on every social media rant, he would not get anything else done. His stance stresses the importance of focusing on the things that matter and disregarding the rest.
Continuing on this vein, he shared his philosophy on dealing with such situations. He suggested that his concentration has always been on the aspects that matter. He advised ignoring external noise and distractions. This, he says, is a strategy he has developed over the span of a decade. The ability to stay focused and cut out background noise is crucial.
When asked about whether the strained relationship with Elon Musk was a concern vis-a-vis its potential damaging influence on Britain and its foreign investments, the Prime Minister was adamant. What really held significance for him was his relationship with the United States and the soon-to-be President, Donald Trump. This, in his opinion, was the crucial relationship to nurture.
Expanding on this, he expressed his satisfaction with the way he interacted with the President-elect. Referencing their meeting in New York, he added that they had enjoyed a dinner and a series of constructive discussions. He feels that all his discussions with the President-elect since then have mirrored this positive start, indicating a solid, mutually beneficial relationship.
The Prime Minister also outlined the lengths he was willing to go to establish this crucial bond. Incorporating the transatlantic trip he had undertaken to dine with the President-elect in New York into his narrative, he expressed his gratitude for the opportunity. Illustrating just how important he views these political alliances, he remains unconcerned by the opinions of others, maintaining focus on his navigating his own course of action.
