George Clooney, Hollywood actor, has recently voiced his dismissive attitude towards former President Donald Trump’s comments about him. Heiterly dismissing the comments, he stated, ‘What does it matter? I’ve interacted with Trump over the years. It’s not my job to dance to the whims of a U.S. President.’
Former President Trump resorted to his platform, TruthSocial, to express criticism towards Clooney after his appearance on 60 Minutes. ‘Why would the now thoroughly debunked 60 Minutes spend time on a piece about George Clooney, a mediocre movie ‘star,’ and unsuccessful political commentator?,’ Trump expressed on his platform.
‘He campaigned fiercely for Sleepy Joe’s win, only to drop him off like an unwanted burden immediately post the Debate. Subsequently, I believe due to pressure from Obama’s camp, he blindly supported ‘Kamala,’ before quickly realizing his grave error.’
In the interview, the actor from Ocean’s Eleven took a stand, stating that satisfying the president’s ego was far from his responsibility: ‘My role is to deliver truth, when and where I can,’ continued Clooney. ‘I am completely cognizant that not everyone will appreciate this… they will levy criticism. That’s their prerogative. As is mine to deliver a dissenting view.’
Furthermore, Clooney, rather audaciously, targeted the Trump administration’s attempts to ‘shrink’ journalists, thereby accusing the government of stifling free speech.
Adding fuel to the fire, last year, Trump ridiculed Clooney, branding him a ‘pretentious movie actor.’ ‘George Clooney, who could never dream of delivering a cinematic masterpiece, is now joining the fray,’ Trump had then remarked.
‘With the predictability of a rat turning its back, he’s distanced himself from Deceptive Joe. And what exactly does Clooney know about anything significant? He simply regurgitates the Democratic ‘talking point’ that Biden, who is arguably the MOST inept President in the history of the United States, has ‘rescued our Democracy.’
In reality, it was Biden who manipulated law enforcement against his political rivals, who brought about the single most destructive inflation wave in the history of our nation, who shamed our country in Afghanistan, and whose border policy has thrown open our gates to countless illegal entries.’
On that same day, George Clooney penned an opi, calling for Biden to step aside from the presidential race in favor of a new Democratic candidate, validating the checkerboard shadow of uncertainty and inadequacy that surrounds the current administration.
However, Clooney’s inability to successfully commentate on political matters becomes apparent when we look closer at his statements and actions.
Having supported Biden so ardently, only to abandon him post-election, and unsuccessfully attempting to rally support for Kamala Harris, it is clear that his loyalties and political insights are as fleeting as his success in the political commentary space.

‘Kamala,’ as he refers to her, appears to be Clooney’s figurative life raft, an odd choice given her diminishing popularity among the American electorate.
Clooney’s plea to Biden to make room for another Democratic candidate is an ironic echo that has resounded among many. Here’s hoping that this plea isn’t just another temporary political talking point from the actor, but a sincere call for a much-needed course-correction.
All things considered, it seems like Clooney is lost in his transient political convictions, much like the individuals he supported, who, irrespective of Clooney’s hollow praise, continue to falter in their leadership roles.
