Ontario Beach Park Hosts Commemorative Ride in Tribute to 9/11 Heroes

Ontario Beach Park served as the congregation point for the community on Sunday, as they came together for a yearly event to pay tribute to the courageous individuals who acted in response to the terrorist acts on September 11, 2001. This commemorative ride goes by the name of Todd Beamer, who was a graduate of the University of Rochester and made the gallant attempt to reclaim United Flight 93 from the hijackers.

The event saw the participation of representation from local, state, and federal law enforcement bodies. The beginning point of the ride was Ontario Beach Park, stretching up till Brockport, covering a considerable distance and showing the community’s unity and respect towards the heroes.

The credit for arranging this memorable tribute ride goes to the Operation Patriot Foundation. They initiated this tribute ride, which marked the beginning of the first known 9/11 tribute ride in the nation. This initiative was launched promptly – merely 19 days following the dreadful attacks of September 2001.

This tribute ride holds the record for being one of the longest-running motorcycle rides in the state of New York. This in itself is a testament to the enduring memory of the heroes who risked and lost their lives on that fateful day and the community’s unyielding commitment to ensure their sacrifices are not forgotten.

Once the ride concluded, a solemn memorial ceremony paid homage to the brave heroes who laid down their lives. The ceremony was not just about paying respects to the past, but it also acknowledged those who serve in the present day, continually risking themselves for the greater good.

An important and distinctive feature of the ceremony was the presence of MCSO Color Guard. Their participation added a formal and reverent dimension to the proceedings, ensuring the practices and customs meant to evoke respect and memory were followed with precision.

Complementing the MCSO Color Guard’s meticulous presentation was the vibrant performance by the LBS Highlanders Pipes & Drums. Their music filled the atmosphere with a resonant sense of reverence, as their haunting melodies offered a fitting tribute to the memory of the fallen.

Further honor was accorded by the Monroe County American Legion Honor Guard. Their participation symbolized the collective gratitude and deep respect felt by Monroe County and served as a tangible representation of the community’s commitment to remembering the heroes.

The ceremony, while having solemn moments, also had some lively portions. Live music performance was one such element which added a livelier ambiance. The performance engaged attendees while also serving as an artistic tribute to the heroes of the past.

With an engaging blend of moving tributes and enjoyable activities, the event catered to all attendees. Assorted food trucks catered to the culinary needs of those present, providing a wide selection of delicacies to enjoy amid the more somber moments of the event.

In addition to the musical performances and diverse eats, there was also an auction as part of the day’s events. One notable item up for bid was a cleat autographed by Josh Allen, the quarterback for the Bills. This offered a distinctive touch to the event, bringing an element of surprise and excitement to the day’s proceedings.

All proceeds generated from the event were directed towards a noble cause. The funds went towards supporting the Crime Stoppers K9 Initiative, a much-needed cause in the community. This successful fundraising added an extra layer of significance to this already impactful day.
