Nearly Half of Voters Doubt Biden Will Be Democratic Nominee

LISTEN HERE:

President Joe Biden’s age has emerged as a significant concern, resonating not only among Republicans but also within the Democratic Party itself, with polls consistently reflecting doubts about his ability to serve another term.

In a recent Monmouth University poll conducted between Feb. 8 and Feb. 12, nearly half of respondents, 48 percent, expressed the belief that Biden would be replaced before the election. This sentiment primarily stems from concerns over his age, physical health, and mental acuity, according to the survey.

The scrutiny surrounding Biden’s age and mental fitness has been ongoing, further exacerbated by a recent report from special counsel Robert Hur, which characterized the president as a “well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory.” While this report didn’t significantly alter perceptions of Biden’s handling of classified documents, it underscored existing concerns about his physical and mental vigor.

Conversely, doubts about former President Donald Trump’s candidacy predominantly revolve around his legal troubles, with 32 percent of respondents expressing skepticism about his nomination due to ongoing legal challenges. Despite facing multiple indictments and civil lawsuits, a majority of voters, 51 percent, still express confidence in Trump’s ability to fulfill presidential responsibilities.

This contrasts with the sentiments in 2020, where a majority were confident in Biden’s stamina compared to Trump’s. The recent shift in confidence levels reflects growing apprehensions about Biden’s cognitive abilities, further highlighted by recent eyewitness accounts of his allegedly diminished state.

Even before Hur’s report, concerns about Biden’s mental acuity were evident, with reports of individuals being “shocked” by his condition during personal interactions. Fox News host Laura Ingraham highlighted these concerns, citing instances where Democrats attempted to refute claims about Biden’s mental state, despite firsthand observations suggesting otherwise.
