Nationwide ‘Hands Off!’ Rallies to Oppose Trump and Musk Policies Announced

Plans for numerous rallies opposing the policies of President Trump and Elon Musk have been announced, with venues set to span across the country this coming Saturday. Connecticut is included in the list of locations, with several demonstrations scheduled. These protests, termed ‘Hands Off!’, are being spearheaded by diverse grassroots organizations. This mass mobilization, they assert, is a direct response to what they are terming as ‘the boldest usurpation of power witnessed in contemporary times.’

These protests take stage in the backdrop of the recently enacted import tariffs by President Trump, applicable to goods from every nation. This move has received substantial backlash since its implementation in January, galvanizing similar demonstrations throughout the country. In Connecticut, cities such as Norwich, New London, and Hartford, among others, are set to host protests.

During one such demonstration, in the city of Yonkers, the crowd saw the participation of 9 year-old Kory Skipper-Miller. An estimated fifty individuals assembled outside the local Social Security office on 3rd April 2025, standing against the alleged cutbacks in Social Security Administration staff by the Trump administration. They fear this move will make it considerably more challenging for the elderly and the disabled to avail themselves of benefits.

Leading their cause was Kisha Skipper, Kory’s mother and active member of the Yonkers NAACP, who addressed the assembled. The future rallies planned for 5th April are oriented against a broad spectrum of issues attributable to President Trump, including but not limited to changes in Social Security, Medicare, and immigration policies.

Detailed information regarding the nature and objective of the protests is available on their official website. Multiple organizations have put their weight behind this ‘Hands Off’ protest campaign. These include 50501, Indivisible, and the Women’s March.

The official protest site features a highly critical description of the current political scenario. It accuses both Trump and Musk, and their associated high-income allies, of orchestrating a widespread attack on essential pillars of society: our governance, economy, and fundamental rights. The Congress is accused of facilitating these actions at each stage.

In the state of Connecticut alone, more than a dozen of these ‘Hands Off’ rallies are set to take place on Saturday. Specific plans for the Norwich rally have already been outlined. As per the schedule, the protest is expected to be held from 2-4 p.m. at Chelsea Parade.
