The strategists are heard highlighting that DeSantis aligns with former President Trump’s stance, advocating for abortion decisions to remain at the state level. They also suggest a shift towards the political center during the general election.

In a noteworthy deployment of former President Bill Clinton’s well-known phrase, the campaign’s position on abortion was described as seeking to make it “safe, legal, and rare in Florida.”

This stance was praised by the meeting’s hosts, including DeSantis pollster Ryan Tyson, who hailed it as a “significant progressive stride for the Republican Party on the topic of abortion.”

Throughout the audio, it is repeatedly emphasized to the donors: “You have to win a primary before you win a general.” This is a common adage in political campaigning indicating the intention to gravitate to a more centrist stance post securing the nomination.

Reacting to the leaked audio, DeSantis’s supporters initially dismissed its authenticity. They then refuted the quoted content as it can be fully heard in the leaked clip.

Finally, they landed on the argument that it wasn’t Ryan Tyson, but an unidentified donor present at the meeting who made the comments. This was despite Tyson not being identified as the sole commentator in the initial reports.

Another user said : It would be political malpractice not to run to the middle in a general election. How is this even newsworthy?

Another said : Run-of-the-mill politicians like DeSantis come a dime a dozen, but a Donald Trump is a rarity.

Twitter User stated : There is NOTHING genuine about Ron DeSantis. He’s literally everything we fought to get rid of.

User also said : Welp, there you go. Wonder what Lila Rose thinks now.

Voters are definitely mixed on this; on one hand voters don’t want to feel lied to but on the other it could serve as a good political strategy.

User on Twitter said: Running against Trump is one thing, but moving away from America First priorities is unacceptable. DeSantis has some explaining to do!

One responded saying: Well yeah that’s the good strategy. Trump’s already in the middle. DeSantis knows that he’s not going to win over Maga because they are a cult So he needs to target independent voters. If Trump’s mega far-right extremists wanted DeSantis to Panda to them maybe they shouldn’t have declared that they were never-ron
