Lana Del Rey and Her Signature Hairstyles: A Journey Through Time

For all the fervent fans of the enigmatic Lana Del Rey, you would agree that her ever-changing hairstyles are a unique and eloquent expression of each phase in her career. Take for instance, our initial encounter with Lana, bedecked with a halo of flowers adorning her undulating waves, the high-reaching beehives reminiscent of Priscilla Presley, and the jet-black locks she donned in 2014. Let’s not forget the compelling image of her brushing her hair live on stage, all the while serenading the crowd at Glastonbury with her song, ‘Bartender’. From extravagant bows to voluminous vintage curls – her hairstyles have encompassed it all.

One can’t help but question, what aesthetic value will her next album bring? Most recently, Lana was spotted during Variety’s Hitmakers Brunch in Los Angeles; her latest hair color and style seemed to be a homage to the classic Hollywood glam of the golden era. She sported loose, shimmering waves of a beautifully nuanced golden-brown hue.

Her trusted hairstylist, Anna Cofone, posted an Instagram snap of Lana and deemed her hairstyle as ‘slightly 1930s glamour’. Having been Lana’s on-call hairstylist for the past year, Cofone has been responsible for a plethora of striking hairdos, including the elegant Brigitte Bardot inspired styles for tours and red carpet events.

Anna has demonstrated her mastery of achieving the measured balance between inviting Parisian relaxed styles, as well as capturing the bounce and volume inherent to authentic Americana hair. The resulting hair sculptures have continually allowed Lana to stand out wherever she goes.

In another instance during the Hitmakers Brunch, Lana was seen in the company of British singer, Raye. Raye, much like Lana, is often lauded and recognized for her affinity towards retro hairstyling.

Raye’s hair, a level bob in dark brown, was styled with comparable vintage waves, suggesting a shared appreciation for the classic subtlety of bygone eras between the two artists.
