A Wisconsin mother discovered that her 5-year old had accessed pornography using an iPad provided by Elmbrook Elementary School. The district has outright denied the allegation altogether.
“A review of all iPad devices and their browser history revealed that no Kindergarten or 1st grade student accessed inappropriate content during this period,” said Chris Thompson, a district official.
According to the Mother, her child was able to view pornography from their iPad due to a “lack of working filters” on the device. She spoke at a school board meeting Tuesday.
“On one occasion this fall while at home, my five-year-old child on the school-issued iPad typed in searches like E, F, F, G, G, [on Google] and accessed multiple pages on a pornography website, videos on YouTube of people smoking, a Russian password hacking website and a YouTube-like website with absurd, inappropriate videos from all over the world,” the Mother claimed.
She asserts that all students who brought home an iPad have had unfiltered access to the internet. During her speech, she demanded that the district take accountability and make other parents aware of the issue.
The Wisconsin mom fears that parents at the district’s other elementary schools may be completely unaware of what their children can do with their devices.
