Could another California Representative be the next House Speaker? Currently, the position is filled by Nancy Pelosi, a California Democrat.
California Republican Kevin McCarthy believes that he will fill Pelosi’s shoes, and Democrats aren’t happy
It’s no doubt that just about anyone in congress, with few exceptions, would be better suited than the 82-year-old Pelosi.
Pelosi has also drawn controversy in recent years for her stock trading habits, combined with her to early exposure to legislation that directly affects the price of stocks that her and her husband purchase.
McCarthy not only believes that he will become the next Speaker of the House, but also believes that after mid-terms, Republicans will regain the majority.
He says Republicans like Liz Cheney will also be ousted. Cheney has aided Democrats in the January 6th Select Committee alongside Adam Kinzinger. The effects have been catastrophic for her re-election.
Fox reported, that Cheney was the most senior of the 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach the then-president on a charge of inciting the deadly attack on the Capitol, which was waged by right-wing extremists and other Trump supporters who aimed to disrupt congressional certification of President Biden’s Electoral College victory in the 2020 election.
McCarthy now endorses Cheney’s primary Republican Challenger, Harriet Hageman. He even teamed up with Hageman during a visit to Wyoming.
Without ousting unprincipled Republicans like Cheney, gaining the majority could prove pointless if these “Republicans” take sides with Democrats on key issues.
