Recent reports on Tuesday shared views from an engaging conversation with Nicole Shanahan, the distinguished collaborator with the independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. During the conversation, she expressed their team’s contemplation of potential alliance with former President Donald Trump, which, in their perception, could potentially avoid a presidency under Kamala Harris.
Shanahan noted they were considering two major avenues of action. The first involved their persistence in the political scene under a newly formed political entity. Yet, the risk with such a move is the potential of a Harris and Walz administration, primarily because their candidacy could potentially draw away votes from Trump.
Meanwhile, the other alternative Shanahan laid out involved stepping out of the race and converging their forces with President Donald Trump. With this maneuver, they would convey their reasoning behind such a decision to their loyal supporters.
Recent polling results seem to suggest that when Kennedy includes himself as a potential candidate, this proves advantageous to Vice President Harris, potentially strengthening her position against Trump in key swing states. This engaging piece of data was shared by CNBC.
Last week, via a comprehensively poignant tweet via X, RFK Jr. underscored his decision not to back Kamala Harris, coupled with a strategic plan to ensure her defeat. From his perspective, the Democratic Party she embodies vastly diverged from his values and those of his antecedent Democratic luminaries, his father and uncle.
Robert F. Kennedy Sr. and John F. Kennedy represented a Democratic ethos that was the vanguard of civil liberties and free speech. Conversely, according to RFK Jr., Harris’s Democratic orientation appears intrinsically linked to restrictions on freedom of expression, enforced lockdowns, and medical mandates.
The Democratic legacy of the Kennedys was one of peace, opposing unnecessary conflict. However, RFK Jr. perceives a stark contrast in Kamala’s party, seeing it infiltrated with neoconservative advocates of war.
Coming from a lineage of Democrats who stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the heart of America, i.e., the working class, police officers, and firefighters, RFK Jr. contrasts this with Harris’s party association. He identifies the current Democrats as the political allies of gigantic corporate entities including Big Tech, Big Pharma, and Wall Street.
RFK Jr. also emphasized the contrast in the parties’ approach to electoral rights. The Kennedys championed fair elections and inclusivity of the voter’s voice. Meanwhile, he criticizes the current Democratic Party, led by Harris, as employing lawfare tactics, exclusionary methods, and reliance on corporate donors and party elites.
Further highlighting the difference between past and present Democrats, RFK Jr. mentioned his legal contributions against corporate entities that infringed upon the rights of African American citizens. On the other hand, he believes that Harris used the justice system victimizing Black Americans for their labor.
The Kennedy legacy consisted of adept debaters with cogent national visions. RFK Jr., however, paints a contrasting picture of Harris, characterizing her as someone who avoids live debate and struggles with spontaneous interviews. Instead, he accuses her of resorting to trivial tactics such as memes, concocted headlines, juvenile slogans, and name-calling.
Throughout his career, RFK Jr. has fought against government deception. Contrarily, he suggests Harris engaged in deceiving Americans about the wellness of their leader in her prior political tenure.
Furthermore, RFK Jr immensely clarified that he holds no intention of endorsing Kamala Harris for the presidency, while emphasizing his explicit intent to work towards her defeat.
In continuation of his critical stance, RFK Jr. later made public his disdain for the Biden administration’s steps to exclude him from the ballot. His assertion was that the DNC seemed to prefer to secure its win through legal means as opposed to winning the hearts and minds of the American populace.
