During Kamala Harris’ January 6 anniversary speech, she took a hard stance comparing the riot to two of the most deadly terrorist attacks ever carried out against Americans – 9/11 and Pearl Harbor.
“Certain dates echo throughout history, including dates that instantly remind all who have lived through them where they were, and what they were doing when our democracy came under assault. Dates that occupy not only a place on our calendars, but a place in our collective memory: December 7, 1941, September 11, 2001, and January 6, 2021,” the Vice President said. Sparking outrage.
Pearl Harbor and 9/11 each respectively carry a death toll of nearly three thousand people. The January 6th attack on the Capitol bore one death. The decedent is named Ashli Babbitt, a pro-Trump veteran shot and killed by Capitol police inside the building.
Critics quickly accused Harris of being disingenuously hyperbolic. The statements seem to be some sort of attempt to distort history and make the January 6th riot appear far worse than it truly was. Most conservatives agree that the attack was abhorrent and should have never taken place in the first place, but the idea that it ranks with 9/11 is egregious.
Many politicians, democrats in particular claim that upwards of 10 people died on January 6th, 2020 as a result of the incident. These claims are simply false, and far-fetched.
One of the primary narratives spewed by left-wing ideologues is that Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick was murdered in the like of duty by a pro-Trump mob on January 6th.
In reality, Sicknick died of a stroke caused by a blood clot in his brain stem the day after the riot. The D.C. medical examiner ruled his death as natural and specified that if injuries incurred on the 6th contributed to his death, it wouldn’t have been ruled natural.
Natural death is a classification given only when a disease is the sole, and only cause of death.
