These aliases, including ‘Robin Ware,’ ‘Robert L. Peters,’ and ‘JRB Ware,’ were used between 2014 and 2016. It is interesting to note that these email exchanges involved discussions related to both family matters and official government business, such as meetings with Ukrainian leaders.
One particular example demonstrates Biden’s involvement in Ukrainian affairs. On May 26, 2016, Hunter received an email from the vice president’s aide, John Flynn, with a note about a ‘9 am phone call with Pres Poroshenko.’
We can see that President Biden remained engaged with Ukraine during his vice presidency, actively participating in conversations surrounding reforms and assistance to the country.
One notable event that transpired during President Biden’s tenure was his visit to Ukraine in December 2015.
During this visit, he reportedly threatened to withhold $1 billion in US loan guarantees if Ukrainian prosecutor general Viktor Shokin was not ousted. Shokin was investigating Burisma Holdings, a natural gas company where Hunter Biden served on the board and earned a significant income.
It is worth mentioning that State Department officials had previously raised concerns about Hunter’s position on the Burisma board, as they believed it hindered Joe Biden’s anti-corruption efforts in Ukraine.
Despite these concerns, the vice president did not take any action regarding the matter. This exchange sheds light on the complexities surrounding Biden’s engagement with Ukrainian affairs and the scrutiny it received.
Not limited to Ukraine, Joe Biden’s involvement in his son’s engagements extended to other aspects as well. In June 2015, his long-time assistant Kathy Chung sent both Hunter and ‘Peters’ a list of influential political figures’ cell phone numbers.
This list included notable names like Bill and Hillary Clinton, Mitch McConnell, Harry Reid, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and Loretta Lynch.
Recently, the House Oversight Committee Chairman, James Comer, made a request to the National Archives for unredacted records revealing correspondence between President Biden, utilizing his aliases, and Hunter Biden and his business partners, Eric Schwerin and Devon Archer.
It is a legal obligation for government officials to retain records of their official communications.
Another intriguing aspect of their communication history involves Hunter advocating for a friend’s legal role within the Obama administration.
‘Before you fill position pls talk to me — [John] McGrail very much wants to serve as detail fr [sic] treasury,’ Hunter requested through the ‘Robin Ware’ email alias in June 2014. Soon after, the friend, John McGrail, was appointed deputy counsel to the vice president.
The exchanges between President Biden and Hunter were not solely reserved for official matters. They also shared personal moments via the ‘Robin Ware’ email account.
In a November 2012 email titled ‘My beautiful son,’ Joe Biden expresses his affection and support for Hunter, emphasizing his strength and character since childhood.
Hunter’s brother, Beau Biden, also played a role in their correspondence. Beau gave a speech on corruption in Kyiv, which Joe Biden received via then-Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken and forwarded to Hunter from his ‘Robin Ware’ account in March 2012.
It is evident that the Biden family discussed important matters and remained involved in various topics.
Among the pseudonyms used by President Biden, ‘JRB Ware’ surfaced in late 2016 regarding the plans for the Penn Biden Center in Washington, DC.
It is essential to remember that the center became the subject of attention when classified material was discovered last year. This detail attests to the significance of their email exchanges even after Biden’s vice presidency.
