Jim Jordan Seeks To Defund Nationwide Injunctions, Stop Anti-Trump ‘Abuse’

House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan is leading a bold charge to rein in activist judges who have repeatedly used nationwide injunctions to block President Trump’s America First agenda. In a letter sent to the House Appropriations Committee, Jordan called for defunding the issuance and enforcement of these sweeping court orders—arguing they represent an abuse of judicial power designed to undermine the will of the people.

“One judge should not have the power to shut down the entire federal government’s agenda,” Jordan said. “These nationwide injunctions are being weaponized to obstruct President Trump’s lawful actions, and Congress must act.”

Jordan’s Plan: Cut Off the Money

Jordan is urging lawmakers to use Congress’s power of the purse to target the judicial overreach head-on. His proposal includes:

  • Prohibiting taxpayer funds from being used to issue or enforce nationwide injunctions that affect individuals or states not directly involved in a case

  • Blocking funds for enforcement tools such as contempt proceedings, compliance mandates, or fines linked to these sweeping rulings

The move is a direct response to a wave of injunctions issued in recent months that have blocked Trump-era executive actions, including the deportation of violent gang members under the Alien Enemies Act and reforms introduced by the Department of Government Efficiency.

No Rogue Rulings Act

Jordan’s effort is reinforced by legislation set to hit the House floor: the “No Rogue Rulings Act of 2025.” The bill would legally restrict federal district judges from issuing injunctions that apply beyond the specific parties in a case, effectively dismantling the Left’s favorite tool to sabotage Republican policies from the bench.

Supporters say the bill is about restoring constitutional balance between the branches of government.

“Activist judges were never supposed to function as unelected super-legislators,” said one GOP aide. “Jordan’s proposal puts them back in their place.”

Restoring Balance, Not Revenge

While some conservatives are calling for impeachment proceedings against judges issuing these broad orders, Jordan is taking a more strategic route: use the law—and the budget—to get the judiciary back under control.

This effort highlights the growing frustration on the Right with a judiciary that, in the eyes of many, has become increasingly partisan and obstructionist—especially when it comes to Trump.

With Republicans in control of the House and the public demanding accountability from all branches of government, Jordan’s initiative could signal a new era of pushback against judicial activism.

“If these judges want to make political decisions, they shouldn’t expect the taxpayers to foot the bill,” Jordan said. “We’re not going to subsidize sabotage.”
