The January 6th select committee which claims not to be political, but prevented representatives with opposing views from joining might be on prime-time television.
Holding a political hearing without opposition on prime-time really does scream “we aren’t trying to push a political agenda”
The only Republicans on the Committee are Liz Cheney from Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger from Illinois. Both of whom are vocal critics of former President Donald Trump who is targeted by the committee.
The Republicans chosen were most certainly chosen on purpose. Jim Banks and Jim Jordan, two men who have shown their incredible ability to reason and articulate arguments were rejected for the job by Nancy Pelosi.
This resulted in GOP leader Kevin McCarthy
withdrawing Republicans from the select committee which caused it to be incredibly, and very obviously one-sided.
Most republicans condemn the January 6th Capitol riot, but it’s a multi-faceted issue. The misinformation about the topic from the members of Congress is shameful.
Donald Trump most certainly did not incite the riot. Just prior the former President called for the protestors to “peacefully and patriotically” make their voices heard. For months, he and his sons praised their supporters for being peaceful in a time of great political violence.
Another myth is that the attack killed Capitol Police officers. It did not. Officer Brian Sicknick (typically the primary death in question) died on January 7th due to a stroke. The D.C. medical examiner ruled his death as natural.
In the weeks and months following, some officers tragically took their own lives. There is no evidence to link their suicides to the Capitol riot.
Only one death can be directly attributed to this event. Her name was Ashli Babbitt, a veteran who was shot and killed by Capitol Police inside the building. Babbitt was a pro-trump protestor.
