President Biden, during a news conference in Santa Monica, confirmed that Hunter and his wife, Melissa Cohen, were informed of the loss. He remarked, “It’s astounding what’s happening… They got a notification yesterday their home was probably burned to the ground.”
The Secret Service detail assigned to Hunter Biden had been renting a neighboring property for over $30,000 per month to maintain close proximity for protection. This property also suffered damage in the wildfire.
The Pacific Palisades Fire has been particularly destructive, consuming over 17,000 acres and destroying more than 1,000 structures. The region is experiencing severe devastation, with multiple wildfires leading to evacuations and significant property loss.
Hunter Biden, 54, has been residing in Malibu while pursuing his art career. The destroyed property featured a guest studio with a private balcony overlooking the ocean, which he used as an art space.
The ongoing wildfires have prompted federal disaster declarations, with President Biden pledging comprehensive assistance to the affected regions. Efforts to contain the fires are ongoing, with firefighters battling challenging conditions exacerbated by strong winds and dry weather.
